I'm going to start using this page for general blogging!
I will update you on what I'm working on, currently it's a book on Patreon:
https://www.patreon.com/Neila
There are still a BUNCH of short stories on my Patreon that you can read with a donation as low as $1. Money from my Patreon goes to help pay bills and buy groceries since I have had to slow down my comicking work because of my arm.
My arm is healing still. I got a sports compression sleeve this week which seems to be helping a bit. I wish I had gotten one sooner but I needed a child's size because my arms are small twigs and all the stores in my area sell are XL FOOTBALL BRO sizes. :C
I just saw the movie Chappie and want to write some thoughts on that so maybe I'll get that done this week.

Writing Patreon and DNA-RW in Sparkler Monthly
Hello everyone! Long time no post! I've been busy!
I sold a short story to Sparkler Monthly which ran last month! You can check it out on their site, it's called DNA-RW and is a horror/thriller story:
https://sparklermonthly.com/creator/sarah-neila-elkins-and-ru-xu-dna-rw/
In other news I am also using Patreon to fund my other shorts and writing! I hope to rework Paragon Ketch as a prose story so if you want to read the first experiments with that check out my Patreon Page so you can be the first to find out when that happens:
http://www.patreon.com/Neila
And in other news I'm recovering from Tennis Elbow I got from trying to work on too many comics and things at the same time earlier this year. It has sucked but I have been writing a great deal more with my Left Hand as a result!
Let us hope that the new year will be far less painful and far more productive than 2014 has been!
Thanks for reading!

Oh Geeze I forgot to mention the Comic Fundraiser I'm running!
I completely forgot to mention on here that I'm running a comic Fundraiser for a short comic I managed to draw in my spare time last year.
Sharkpony and the Glitter Riders:
http://igg.me/p/429459/x/409278
Sharkpony and the Glitter Riders is a 1 issue satirical parody comic about 4 Dude Bros who steal a spaceship and are transformed into 3 Magical Girls and a Sharkpony. The comic began it's life as an forum art challenge entry but was just too fun an idea so it became a full 22 page comic.
There are comic preview pages on the IndieGoGo page! There's also an amazing plush available (for a donation of $300, you also get other swag with it!) made by Robo-Shark:
Please take a look and if you can't donate at least spread the word on! If the fundraiser is Successful I plan to do another one next year for Paragon Ketch so I can focus on it and get the first few issues of it drawn since it will have to be printed as a Graphic Novel if it sees print because of the storyline!
Thank you for taking a look! Link to the IndieGoGo is above but in the event you don't/can't scroll back up here it is again:

Paragon Ketch and Short Stories
Why has there not been an update to the comic in...forever?
I've been busy! I had to take on more freelance comic work to pay the bills. Having one's own webcomic is awesome unless you have bills to pay and no "normal day job." I'm attempting to continue working on Paragon Ketch while working on polishing my Prose writing (and attempt to get a job writing a prose serial).
I don't want to sound like I'm complaining, because I'm not. Life is work. Day to day, month to month, life is survival. I've been increadibly lucky in that I have been able to make ends meet, even when it's been barely doing so, by creating art for others. One day perhaps I will be in a position where I can dedicate more time to my own comic pursuits, but unfortunately that time is not now.
"But Neila! You just told us you've been spending time writing prose! You could use that time to draw Paragon Ketch!"
I could if my arm didn't feel like it was going to fall off. I draw with my right hand, but I can type with my left hand and keep creating. I've made an experimental Short Story Writing Blog: http://shortstoriesinprogress.blogspot.com/ That I will be posting short stories that I'm writing anyway on. Some of these short stories will likely be Paragon Ketch related so it's a good place to keep an eye on!
Now I will go back to typing up a short story and try to stave off beating myself up for not coloring the next Paragon Ketch page.

I finally joined Tumblr and have posted a few WIP previews of Paragon Ketch stuff on there:
http://flailingcurrent.tumblr.com/
^^ This is a snapshot of a Illustration of Hal that's still in progress
vv This is a snapshot of the pencils for the Magazine Cover I need to finish before I can finish page 7 of PK.
There is also a dedicated Paragon Ketch website in the works, that I'll update you folks on here when it's online and functioning. I've had a bad go trying to figure out Comicpress and Wordpress, but I have a friend that said he'd help out. ouo
Unfortunately I haven't had a lot of time to work on PK as I'm still neck deep in drawing The Trials and Tribulations of Miss Tilney: Available from Dusk Comics
I'll be at A-kon in Dallas in a couple weeks with copies of Issue 1 of Tilney, a few copies of Womanthology, some Panel Burst Sketchbooks and a few hats I made. A-kon 23 <---- Check it out! I'll also be hosting a panel called "Comics, from Thumbnail to Finish" so be sure to swing by and check that out too!
Thanks for reading!
